TerraMRO™

Job Cards and Work Packages | Engineering Module | Technical Manual Library | Maintenance Schedule Module

The complex business of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) in the transportation industry makes extremely high demands of quality, efficiency, security, and accountability. Independent MRO facilities face the added complexity of performing work for multiple customers, each with their own variants of the documentation, forms, and processes that the Independent MRO must adhere to in additional to compliance with regulatory agencies.

TerraMRO™ has been developed as an enterprise-wide solution for the MRO business to manage all the intellectual capital and provide global access to it in a secure and personalized environment using the included TerraView™ web portal. TerraMRO™ provides a single repository to house all the OEM, operator, and regulatory agency information, including reference manuals, engineering drawings, engineering orders, Job Cards and Work Packages, illustrated parts lists, service bulletins, safety notices, as well as company specific documents.

Unlike traditional content management systems that simply manage documents, TerraMRO™ is built upon the product lifecycle management suite of products from PTC which provide a best of breed suite of integrated applications spanning content management, product lifecycle management (PLM), configuration management with built-in options, variants and bill of materials, 2d and 3d illustration and CAD functionality, and XML-based dynamic publishing.

Functions for all aspects of the MRO business are provided from the information in this core repository and include an Engineering module, a Technical Manual Library module, A Job Card and Work Package module, a Maintenance Schedule and Requirement module, and comprehensive web portal module called TerraView™.

Job Cards and Work Packages

Maintenance tasks from the AMM, Engineering orders, illustrations, and other content in the repository can be easily reused to create Job Cards using a globally accessible web application. Applicable tasks and subtasks are simply "dragged and dropped" and re-ordered as needed to create the Job Card template.

Once the Job Card template is created, it can be further edited with the included XML editor to remove duplicate tasks and subtasks and add extra content. Complete online and print preview capabilities exist directly from the XML editor so the users can quality check the final presentation.

Once the Job card content is completed, using the web application, effectivity, sign-off requirements, and other information can be easily added to each step and the resulting Job Cards can be published to both PDF for printing and electronic format for web and handheld delivery.

The final job card is then available for use within Work Packages as well as online via TerraView™. Complete traceability to the original maintenance requirement as well as reused content is maintained. If the source material is modified, appropriate users are notified and the Job Card can be automatically updated with the new information without the need to re-author.

Work Packages, a group of Job Cards associated with a particular maintenance requirement such as a "check" are easily assembled, managed, and assigned for work as part of TerraMRO™. TerraMRO™ can be integrated with a maintenance planning system for automatic creation and management of Work Packages.

Engineering Module

The TerraMRO™ Engineering Module includes functions to receive internal and external change requests, process them for impact analysis, assign the engineering effort for those changes deemed necessary and effective, and then to publish the engineering orders for use, including for incorporation into Job Cards and maintenance tasks. External Change requests that are handled by TerraMRO™ include Service Bulletins (SB) and Airworthiness Directives (AD).

Additionally, internal change requests are also handled for non-routine maintenance tasks, modification engineering, and any other source for an engineering change. As change requests are received, they can automatically be routed to the appropriate engineer for applicability and impact analysis.

The built-in workflow capability automates the engineering business processes at the MRO and allows electronic distribution and monitoring of the work. Tasks can eb manually or automatically assigned and by visually monitoring and managing the workflow processes, managers and engineers can reassign tasks to balance workload and relieve bottlenecks.

Technical Manual Library

TerraMRO™ provides the capability to manage the entire MRO reference library and to provide intelligent access to it online via the web using the included TerraView™ module. All the major document types are supported such as Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, Fault Isolation and reporting Manuals, Maintenance Planning Documents, Engineering Orders, Job Cards and Work Packages, Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives, company specific Policy and Procedure Manuals. ATA as well as S1000D document types are supported.

Intelligent search functions are provided that include not only the full text search capabilities traditionally available, but also specific intelligent search capabilities to support parts numbers, wire lists, fault codes. Result sets can be limited by effectivity/tail number, and changes since the last version can be easily found.

Access to the technical manual library can be personalized by user or group, allowing them access only to permitted information. Users can also add bookmarks in multiple manuals for quick and easy recollection of needed information. A fully tabbed user interface is provided, allowing the user to simultaneously manage large sets of data without screen clutter.

Maintenance Schedule Module

TerraMRO™ provides the capability of scheduling maintenance events such as heavy maintenance checks, tying these events to the maintenance requirements within the MPD, associating a set of Work Packages to the event that define the maintenance tasks required to be performed to satisfy the maintenance requirement as well as assigning Job Cards and Work Packages to the Maintenance Technicians.

As a mechanic logs on to the system, they can easily access their inbox via the web to identify the set of tasks assigned to them. As the tasks are completed, the system automatically records accomplishments and closes work packages when they are completed with the required signature requirements.
