TerraView™
TerraView™ is a customizable, personalized, portal that is used to organize, view, search, filter, and print online content. Additionally, many other functions are provided that include checking a user's inbox for work assignments, acknowledging the receipt and review of documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, adding annotations and supplemental information to the published content, initiating "Change Requests", and differencing different versions of the published information to note changes between them.
TerraView™ natively supports many different formats such as XML, SGML, HTML, and PDF content along with associated graphics. Graphic, audio, and video files. TerraView™ is built to handle precision intelligent searches in structured XML data as well as the ubiquitous full-text search capabilities. Intelligent search features can be used to provide rapid retrieval of information such as parts numbers and fault codes in order to minimize the time it takes a user to find the information needed to perform their tasks. Furthermore, the information can be filtered to show only the results applicable to the assembly or work product.
The TerraView™ portal can be customized to extract and published from multiple sources such as the PTC Windchill repository, other content management systems, the file system, databases, and other data sources. Content can be restricted for viewing so that only authorized individuals or groups are allowed access to a particular document or collection of documents. TerraView™ offers multiple ways to search and navigate to content, again with only authorized content appearing to the user. TerraView™ supports document filtering that allows the system to filter out irrelevant data for certain types of documents. Users can use the tabbed document interface for rapid switching between documents after a search, or they can bookmark pages for fast retrieval within a viewing session. Documents can be linked to other parts of the same document, or they may be externally linked to documents either internal to the system or out on the open web.
This product is a customizable and open viewer that can be extended to interact with customer applications through an API layer that can be called from other applications to add or extract content. TerraView™ is packaged as a self-contained application that can publish its own documents, manage its own libraries, and control the users and groups that will access its libraries.
